A popular debate on where to rent an apartment or condo in Makati often arises: Salcedo village or Legaspi village? Let’s compare the pros and cons for each one to allow you to make an informed decision on which village is right for you. Before we get started, it is important to note that the villages are divided by Ayala avenue. While they are in walking distance of each other, the atmosphere of each village is (in my opinion) completely different.
Legaspi Village: Located between the areas of De la Costa street and Amorsolo street, Legaspi Village is the closest village to the Greenbelt, Glorietta, SM and Landmark malls, with the closest being Greenbelt.
Pros:
- Very short walk to any of the Makati malls
- Located near a large quiet park named Washington Sycip Park
- Many restaurants and supermarkets nearby
- Close to Makati Medical Center
- Easy access to the EDSA highway
- Large sized apartment units for rent
Cons:
- Can be noisy on the major roads during rush hour traffic
- Not too many trees (when compared to Salcedo village)
- Located further away from most office space (in Salcedo village)
Salcedo Village: Located between and around Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, and Makati Avenue. Located in the heart of the majority of office space in Makati.
Pros:
- Centrally located park with children’s playground
- Makati Sports Club
- Many good restaurants
- Located near most office space in Makati
- Easy access to Makati Sykway
Cons:
- Not located in quick walking distance to the supermarkets
- Noise on property facing Buendia Avenue
- Located further from the malls: Greenbelt, SM, Glorietta, Landmark etc.
Each village has its own feel. The best way to appreciate each village is to set a time and day for a tour of apartments and condos to rent in Makati. You will appreciate each village firsthand and be able to make the best decision that suits you.
